Lighting for the Ford Ranger

LED headlights, taillights, fog lights, and light bars — brighter, longer-lasting upgrades that modernize older Rangers and light up the trail.

3 parts

Lighting is the most-searched Ranger parts category on this site, and it is the upgrade with the widest gap between the best and worst versions of the same idea. A quality headlight housing genuinely transforms a twenty-year-old truck at night; a cheap bulb dropped into a reflector designed for something else mostly scatters glare at oncoming traffic.

There is a sensible order to it — headlights first, then fog, then auxiliary pods, then rear lighting, then interior and bed lights — and a hard rule underneath all of it: the housing controls the beam pattern, not the bulb. Get that one right and everything else is straightforward.

What fits which Ranger

North America got the compact Ranger from 1983 through 2011, went without one for the 2012–2018 model years, then received the midsize P375 Ranger for 2019–2023 and the redesigned next-generation truck from 2024. Parts almost never cross those boundaries.

1983–2011 (classic compact)
The generation where complete replacement headlight assemblies make the biggest difference, because decades-old lenses have usually hazed and the reflector coating behind them has degraded.
2019–2023 (P375)
Rear lamp assemblies split by trim and equipment: base halogen versus LED with blind-spot monitoring. They are different part numbers, and the blind-spot radar module is not included with a lamp.
2024–2026 (next generation)
Newer lighting hardware with its own part numbers. Confirm against your VIN rather than a 2019–2023 listing.

What to look for in Ranger lighting

  • Left and right are separate part numbers. Many listings — including some in the grid below — are driver-side only.
  • Blind-spot equipped rear lamps do not add the feature to a truck that never had it; the radar module is a separate part.
  • Search a Ford part number both with and without dashes. The two forms return different results.
  • For auxiliary pods, buy the Ranger-specific bracket plus a relay-and-switch harness — pods wired direct to a switched circuit are the usual cause of melted wiring.
  • Passenger-side assemblies, OEM lamps and blind-spot modules are frequently easier to source on eBay Motors than new through Amazon.

Lighting FAQs

Will LED bulbs in my Ranger’s stock headlights work?
Dropping LED bulbs into a housing designed for a halogen filament usually produces more scatter and glare rather than more usable light, because the housing — not the bulb — shapes the beam. On older Rangers a complete replacement assembly designed for the light source is the upgrade that actually works.
Are Ranger tail light assemblies sold as a pair?
Often not. Left-hand and right-hand assemblies carry separate part numbers and are frequently listed individually, so read the listing carefully to confirm which side you are buying before ordering.
Do blind-spot tail lights add blind-spot monitoring to my Ranger?
No. On the 2019–2023 Ranger the blind-spot variant of the rear lamp is a different part number, and the radar module itself is typically not included with the lamp assembly. Fitting one to a truck that was not built with the system does not add the feature.
How do I find the right Ford part number for a Ranger lamp?
The most reliable route is the number moulded into the old part itself, followed by a dealer parts counter working from your VIN. Year, make and model lookups are where wrong-trim errors creep in, because trim and equipment level change the number on lighting parts.
